I'd like to thank all of you who were involved in the development of the toolkit the past year in many different ways, and want you to know that it wouldn't have got to this stage without that help.

I am currently involved with a group of Independent Nurse Prescribers - in both acute and community settings. We are exploring ways of capturing data regarding prescribing patterns for audit purposes - has anyone developed log books or other recording systems that you wouldn't mind sharing with me? Also, I would be interested in hearing what data other nurse prescribers keep regarding their prescribing practice.

The Scottish Spina Bifida Association is looking at a Medicines Management Policy, bearing in mind that we do not have access to medicines management training and the family support staff are not registered members of staff and are not happy to administer medications. I feel that it needs to be a policy reflecting self or carer management of medicines whilst in the centre.
We are also looking at developing an Intimate and Personal Care Policy, bearing in mind that we do not have access to bowel or bladder management training and the family support staff are not registered members of staff and are not happy to carry out intimate procedures as they do not see that as their role. I feel that it needs to be a policy reflecting self or carer bowel , bladder and intimate care management whilst in the centre.
Anybody got any suggestions?
Grateful for any help.

Hi, I am assisting in an initiative to develop a post for a new Development Worker for the Deaf community.
We are keen to ensure we are developing a service that meets the needs of this population. I was wondering if you have done anything similar and if so, would be willing to share experiences, pitfalls, etc. Also, if you have any quality improvement framework for this, would you be able to let me have a copy?
Many thanks, hope to hear from you soon.

Hi, I am currently developing a proposal for a Community Rehabilitation Occupational Therapy Team for the whole of Doncaster PCT. This would be done to develop equitable service provision in the area. It will be community focused person centred care, multi disciplinary, with agreed therapy outcomes, and occupational performance measures. It aims to meet the physical, intellectual, sensory, spiritual, social and emotional needs of this client group. If anyone is doing or has done similar work in this area, I would be grateful if you could get in touch. Many thanks, look forward to hearing from you.

The Scottish Community Nurse Census (a joint initiative by ISD and the Scottish Government e-health programme) is taking place on 24th April 2008. Members of the PPDNF have been identified as key stakeholders and key to the success of this work. We would like at this point to engage with them and ask them to help us raise awareness of this project which involves all community nursing staff and their teams and also ask them to help ensure that all community staff complete the census form. More details can be found on our website: http://www.isdscotland.org.comm-nurse-census

We are currently reviewing our policies and procedures manual. We do not have a policy on Confidentiality. Does anybody have a Confidentiality Policy which they are willing to share?
Remember we are a charity and we do not necessarily employ nurses within the association, so it would have to be a generic policy.
Any help gratefully appreciated as always.
Thanks.

I am in the process of developing competencies for staff on agenda for Change bands 1-4.
Our organisation is going through huge changes at the moment, one of which will include increasing the skills and competencies of A&E technicians.
This post has evolved over the years but they have never had a formal job description and set of competencies.
I would be very grateful if anyone has done similar work and are willing to share their expertise. |

We are currently reviewing our Essence of Care Strategy and would be very keen to hear of the approaches other Trusts are using (both the successful and the not so successful would help). One of my concerns is that whilst we are getting lots of data, and have no problem writing up six monthly reports, I am not convinced that we are really "making a difference".
I would love to hear from anyone willing to share their EoC stories with me.
